Your first resume should contain five main factors: Objective, Education, Employment History, Skills and Interests. If you are submitting your resume for an internship, you can include "Relevant Classes" as a category. This will allow employers to view your classes and see how they relate to the internship program.
1. OBJECTIVE:
Your objective should be a brief sentence describing your intent to learn, gain experience and participate at a particular company.
2. EDUCATION: List your school, general location, degree, graduation date and major. List the most
recent at the top.

Bachelor of Arts – December 1994, Dean’s List
Major: Political Science: International Relations: Minor: Journalism
3. RELEVANT CLASSES: If you intend to send your resume for an internship, you can provide
classes that relate to the internship program.
Sample: Business, Accounting, Public Relations, Media, Business Law, Creative Writing
4. EMPLOYMENT HISTORY: If you are a Junior or Senior in school, employers are going to
understand that you don’t have 20 years experience in the field. They want to see if you
have any work experience. List the name of the company, your title or position, date you
started and finished at the job.

4. SKILLS: List some of your skills that would best match the internship or a job.
Sample: Detail-Oriented, Able to Multi-task, Dedicated, Reliable, Team Player,
Ambitious Creative, Organized, Able to Work Independently
5. INTERESTS: List a couple of interests such as volunteering, travel or sports. Consider thefollowing:
Do you speak more than one language
Do you currently play sports
Did you win any awards?
Do you volunteer? If so, where and how long did you volunteer?
